ここで、riは着目する結晶粒子の角部に内接する円の半径
Rは着目する結晶粒子に内接する最大円の半径
nは着目する結晶粒子の角部の数
Σは着目する結晶粒子の角部に対する和、を表す。
この定義によれば、着目する粒子が理想的な円(球)の場合は、円磨度AはA=1となる。よって、本明細書でいう円磨度は1を超えることは無い。図2の模式図でいえば、この結晶粒子には5個の角部(n=5)があり、これら角部に内接する円の半径はそれぞれr1、r2、r3、r4、r5であり、また内接する最大円の半径はRとなっている。

以下、本実施形態に係る希土類磁石の製造方法の一例を説明する。
Nd: 31.08質量%、
B: 0.95質量%、
Ga: 0.72質量%、
Cu: 0.10質量%、
Fe: 残部(不可避不純物等を除いた部分はFe)、及び、
その他不可避不純物等が1質量%以下
からなる組成の各元素を溶解し、ストリップキャスティング法により、原料合金を作製した。尚、より厚い粒界相とするために、上記組成よりもさらにNdリッチGaリッチの組成としても良い。次に、得られた原料合金に水素を吸蔵させた後、Ar雰囲気で600℃、1時間の脱水素を行う水素粉砕処理を行った。その後、得られた粉砕物をAr雰囲気下で室温まで冷却した。
得られた焼結体に対し、表1及び表3に示すように熱処理温度、時間及び熱処理の降温過程における冷却速度を変え、主相結晶粒子の円磨度の異なる複数の試料を準備した。尚、上記したように主相結晶粒子の円磨度は、原料合金組成、焼結条件によっても変化させることができる。
2 粒界相
Claims (3)
- R2T14B主相結晶粒子と、隣接する該主相結晶粒子間の粒界相とを含む希土類焼結磁石において、前記希土類焼結磁石の任意の断面において前記主相結晶粒子の丸み度合いを円磨度Aで評価したときに、該円磨度Aが0.24以上であることを特徴とする希土類焼結磁石。
ただし、円磨度Aは下記式(1)により定義され、

ここで、riは着目する結晶粒子の角部に内接する円の半径
Rは着目する結晶粒子に内接する最大円の半径
nは着目する結晶粒子の角部の数
Σは着目する結晶粒子の角部に対する和、を表す。 - 前記粒界相が非磁性のRリッチ相により形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の希土類焼結磁石。
- 前記粒界相が反強磁性もしくはフェリ磁性の化合物により構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の希土類焼結磁石。
