Description
Claims (8)
- 液晶表示パネルの上に液晶レンズが配置された液晶表示装置であって、
前記液晶表示パネルは、赤サブ画素、緑サブ画素、青サブ画素を有する第1画素と、赤サブ画素、緑サブ画素、青サブ画素を有する第2画素を有し、
前記液晶レンズは、第1の基板と第2の基板の間に液晶が挟持された構成であり、
前記第1の基板には、複数のストライプ状の電極が第1の方向に延在し、所定の間隔を持って第2の方向に配列し、
前記第2の基板には前記ストライプ状の電極に対向する対向電極は存在せず、
前記第1の基板および前記第2の基板の液晶分子に対する初期配向は、前記第1の方向であり、
前記複数のストライプ状電極のうち、隣り合った前記ストライプ状電極には異なった電圧を印加することが可能であり、
隣り合った前記ストライプ状電極の間隔内に、前記液晶表示パネルにおける前記第1画素および前記第2画素を含み、前記第1画素は右眼用の信号を表示し、前記第2画素は左眼用の信号を表示し、前記第1画素の光を観測者の右眼に、前記第2画素の光を観測者の左眼に導くことによって観測者に3次元画像を認識させることを可能とすることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶レンズにおける液晶分子に対する初期配向の方向は、前記ストライプ状電極の延在方向と、±5度以内で一致することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1の基板は前記液晶表示パネルとは反対側の基板であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記複数のストライプ状の電極は、平面的に見て、前記第1画素と隣接する第1の電極を含み、
前記第1の電極は、前記第1画素とは反対側で、赤サブ画素、緑サブ画素、青サブ画素を含む第3画素と隣接し、
前記3次元画像を表示する時、前記液晶レンズは、前記第1画素からの出射光を前記第3画素の側へ出射させ、前記第3画素からの出射光を前記第1画素の側へ出射させることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記3次元画像を表示する時、前記液晶レンズは、前記第1画素と前記第1の電極と前記第3画素とに跨る幅を有し、且つ前記第1の方向に延在するシリンドリカルな凸レンズを有することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の表示装置。
- 液晶表示パネルの上に液晶レンズが配置された液晶表示装置であって、
前記液晶表示パネルは、赤サブ画素、緑サブ画素、青サブ画素を有する第1画素と、赤サブ画素、緑サブ画素、青サブ画素を有する第2画素を有し、
前記液晶レンズは、第1の基板と第2の基板の間に液晶が挟持された構成であり、
前記第1の基板には、複数のストライプ状の電極が第1の方向に延在し、所定の間隔を持って第2の方向に配列し、
前記第2の基板には前記ストライプ状の電極に対向する対向電極は存在せず、
前記第1の基板および前記第2の基板の液晶分子に対する初期配向は、前記第1の方向であり、
前記複数のストライプ状電極のうち、隣り合った前記ストライプ状電極には異なった電圧を印加することが可能であり、
隣り合った前記ストライプ状電極の間隔内に、前記液晶表示パネルにおける前記第1画素および前記第2画素を含み、前記第1画素は右眼用の信号を表示し、前記第2画素は左眼用の信号を表示し、前記第1画素の光を観測者の右眼に、前記第2画素の光を観測者の左眼に導くことによって観測者に3次元画像を認識させることを可能とし、
前記複数のストライプ状電極のうち、隣り合った前記ストライプ状電極に異なった電圧を印加する場合には前記3次元画像を形成することが可能であり
前記複数のストライプ状電極のうち、隣り合った前記ストライプ状電極に同一電圧を印加する場合には2次元画像を形成することが可能であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数のストライプ状の電極は、平面的に見て、前記第1画素と隣接する第1の電極を含み、
前記第1の電極は、前記第1画素とは反対側で、赤サブ画素、緑サブ画素、青サブ画素を含む第3画素と隣接し、
隣り合った前記ストライプ状の電極に異なった電圧を印加する時、前記液晶レンズは、前記第1画素からの出射光を前記第3画素の側へ出射させ、前記第3画素からの出射光を前記第1画素の側へ出射させることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 隣り合った前記ストライプ状の電極に異なった電圧を印加する時、前記液晶レンズは、前記第1画素と前記第1の電極と前記第3画素とに跨る幅を有し、且つ前記第1の方向に延在するシリンドリカルな凸レンズを有することを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。
