Abstract

A make-ready or relief sheet for typographical printing comprises a sheet of paper coated with several layers on one or both faces, these layers containing substances soluble in sodium hypochlorite and each layer being distinguishable by colour from each other layer on the same face. The paper may be one made from synthetic fibres only, from both synthetic and cellulosic fibres, or one treated during manufacture with a melamine-formaldehyde resin. The coating layers may contain one or more of calcium carbonate, kaolin, blanc-fixe and satin white, with a binder, e.g. gelatin, coloured pigments and flexibilizing agents.
