Abstract

952,170. Tractor power lifts. TECHNISCHE HOCHSCHULE DRESDEN. March 17, 1960, No. 9457/60. Heading A1P. A tractor power lift mechanism with depth control responsive to both traction and position comprises a power lift cylinder 30 controlled by a valve 25 and operating through a connecting rod 31 lever 32 and link 33 having an adjusting device 34, upon the lower links 35 to which and to an upper link 37 the implement 36 is attached. The upper link is pivoted to a lever 38 and is connected to a prestressed spring 39 and through a link 40 to a two arm knuckle joint lever 22 biased in a clockwise direction about its pivot 41 by a spring 23, the lever being connected at its lower end to a link 24 through which the valve 25 is operated, and at its upper end bears through a member 21 upon a hand lever 20. The implement is set to a working depth by operation of a hand lever 1 which acts through a two arm knuckle lever 2 constrained to an in-line position by a spring 3, and a link 4 upon the slide 5 of a valve controlling the flow of liquid to and from a piston and cylinder 12, 13, which has a spring 14 acting against the fluid pressure and is connected by a link 15 to the hand lever 20. If the implement meets different grades of soil whereby the tractive force is varied, the equilibrium position with spring 39 is disturbed and the rod 40 is moved in one direction or the other whereby a correction is applied through lever 22 upon valve 25. If the depth of the implement varies due to ground undulation, the lift links 32, 33 are rotated relatively to the tractor and a cam 16 affixed to link 32 adjusts the position of lever 2 whereby the valve 5 is actuated and a correction is applied through the piston and cylinder 12, 13 and levers 20 and 22. In order that the rate of action can be controlled, a throttle 10 and restricted by-pass 9 is provided in the fluid supply to piston and cylinder 12, 13. The throttle may be actuated through a Bowden cable 11.
