Abstract
The invention comprises piperazides (anti-inflammatory agents and pepsin inhibitors) of the general formula I, <FORM:0950509/C2/1> (wherein Alk is an alkylene radical, and R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or alkanoyloxyalkyl radical), and a process for their preparation by condensing a 9-carboxyalkyl -9-pyrid [3, 4-b]indole halide, azide or alkyl ester with piperazine or an N-alkyl-, hydroxyalkyl- or alkanoyloxyalkyl-piperazine; I (R=alkanoyloxyalkyl) may alternatively be prepared by esterification of I (R=hydroxyalkyl). The halide, azide and alkyl ester starting materials are prepared from 9-pyrid [3,4-b]indole by standard methods.
