Abstract
878,844. Armoured cables. PIRELLI S.p.A. April 1, 1960 [May 6, 1959], No. 11534/60. Class 36. Armouring for submarine cables is formed by wires 2 sheathed individually with plastic material, the sheaths 3 being of such external configuration that they interlock and mutually resist rotation. The sheaths may be Z-shaped as shown or sector shaped. The wires may be of circular, square or hexagonal cross-section and may be fluted to improve adhesion. Alternatively a cement may be used for this purpose. Stranded wires may be used, the lay of individual wires being of opposite hand to the lay of the armouring as a whole. The material of the sheathing may be polyethylene or P.V.C. and may be extruded.
