Classes 20(3) and 20(4) The vertical mullions 11, Fig. 1, of a curtain walling structure each comprises a first set of I-beam members 21, Fig. 4 in end to end relationship and a second set of channel members 39 also in end to end relationship connected to the outer flanges 22 of the members 21 and the joints between the members 21 are spaced longitudinally of the mullion from the joints 44, Fig. 1 of the channel members 39, and at least one of said joints, e.g. 44 being at horizontal levels differing from the levels at which the horizontal transoms 12, Fig. 1, and joints between other members of the wall structure are located. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the length of the section bar 11 corresponds to the spacing between two floors. The upper end of each I-beam 11 carries angle-sections 26, Fig. 3 and a plate 24 to receive the lower end of the adjacent upper beam 21. A lip 31 overlaps the joint between the two beams 11, 21. Each beam 11, 21, is supported at its upper end on the main structure 10 by a stud 19 mounted in the structure 10 and supporting a bracket 28 secured to the beam. The beam 11, 21 supports in sliding engagement an inner wall structure 16, Fig. 4. Tray-shaped brackets 50 secured to the beams 11, 21 support horizontal transoms 60 by means of pins 58 and apertures 57, 59. Each bracket 50 has a central ventilation hole 55 and a draining duct formed by a depression 53 in the tray and a duct 54 through the beam flange connect with the channel member 39. The upper transom, Fig. 5 contains a drain channel 60 which communicates with the tray duct 53-54 and has a flange portion 61 to cover the upper frame member 72 of the window, the transom terminating in sealing gaskets 62, 65. The upper transom also has a small support flange 68 for a wooden window sill 69 gripped at its upper face by the hook-shaped end 67 of the transom and the sill supports the panel 16. The lower horizontal member of the window frame has a vertical flange 86, Fig. 6, which terminates in sealing strips 85, 87 abutting the surfaces of the panels 70 and 15 and the flange 86 thereof entirely covers the lower transom 88. This latter has a horizontal flange 94 terminating in a hook-shaped portion 95 to grip a wooden sill plate 96. The glass panel 15 is held in position by a hair pin clip 97.
