Abstract
In a process of preparing a self-luminous substance, finely-divided luminescent particles, e.g., of zinc-cadmium sulphide, are coated with metal, preferably titanium or zirconium, by cathode sputtering or by vapour coating in vacuo or by grinding luminescent crystals and metal powder together in a ball mill. The metal coating is subsequently charged with gaseous tritium. Specific examples are given. French Specification 1,133,803 and U.S.A. Specification 2,749,251 are referred to.
