Abstract

864,782. Forage harvesters. WILDER JOHN Ltd. Oct. 27, 1959 [Oct. 27, 1958], No. 34292/58. Class 6(3). In a forage harvester of the type having flails rotatable about the axis of a horizontal shaft, each flail comprises an arm 1 mountable on an axis parallel to the shaft and a blade 7 pivoted on the outer end of the arm about an axis parallel to the pivot-axis of the arm. The arm has flanged edges 4 and bosses, 2, 5 the axes of which constitute the two pivotal axes. The blade 7 is arcuately curved and thickened laterally to present an elongated outer edge 14. The inner boss 2 on the arm is thickened laterally in the opposite direction to the blade. The machine is similar to that described in Specification 867,724. Specifications 816,421, 846,117 and 11002/55 also are referred to.
