Abstract
853,699. Forming multiple-ply fibreboard. HAKANSSON, O. R. March 6, 1959 [March 7, 1958], No. 7897/59. Class 96. In the production of pressboard, paper-board, vulcanized fibreboard &c., combined webs from e.g. a Fourdrinier machine 1 and a cylinder machine 2 are couched, and are carried together on a travelling wetfelt 5, the delivery end of which is oscillated by a reciprocated roller 9 so as to lay a succession of folds of the webs on to the upper reach of a stationary endless belt III, each fold being pressed down by a plate or roller 16 to build up a thick wet board 12 which, after a required number of oscillations of the end of the felt 5 is severed, and passed through an enclosure 15 heated by steam to 60‹ to 100‹ C., and then to an hydraulic press 35, 36 &c. Instead of oscillating part of the wet felt 5, the belt III may be mounted on a reciprocating carriage. The pulp webs may be delivered from the felt 5 faster than the relative reciprocation, so that a creped effect is obtained.
