Abstract

829,673. Overhead travelling cranes. FERRAND & FRANTZ. Dec. 27, 1957 [Oct. 4, 1957], No. 40188/57. Class 78 (4). The all-welded travelling beam of a bridge crane comprises side walls 3 carrying rails 7 for the hoisting carriage 9 on their upper edges and joined at intervals by transverse hollow members 10 of trapezoidal section. These members are connected to reinforcing members comprising channel members 14, 15 and triangular plates 13 by uprights comprising trapezoidal members 11 and channel members 12. The plates 3 have tubes 1 at their lower edges and pairs of channel members 2 forming supports for the rails 7, and may have apertures 3a edged with tubes 6. Toward the ends of the beam the tubes 1 may slope upwards and the apertures 3a may be omitted. Specification 705,148 is referred to.
