Abstract

813,388. Powder distributers. METALLURGICAL CHEMISTS Ltd. Dec. 11, 1956 [Dec. 19, 1955], No. 36365/55. Class 6(1). Apparatus for distributing electrostatically charged powder or dust comprises a blower 4 for expelling material through an earthed nozzle 2 provided with an electrode 8 charged to a continuously unipolar electric potential with respect to the nozzle, the potential being obtained from an alternating generator 6 which produces a current of relatively low alternating potential which is passed through a transformer and rectifier unit 7 to produce a steady high positive voltage at the electrode 8. The generator 6 is driven by the blower engine 5. In a modification the alternator is dispensed with and the magneto of the engine 5 provides a current which is passed to the rectifier unit which contains a condenser and may include a transformer.
