Abstract

A solution of concentrated hydrogen peroxide (at least 30 per cent) is decomposed by contact with ruthenium or a compound of ruthenium or with ruthenium in admixture with other catalysts. The ruthenium may be present in ammonium ruthenium chloride, as a coating on alumina pellets or on nickel, as ruthenium chloride solution or as metallic sponge.
