Abstract

771,090. Magnetic separators. DINGS MAGNETIC SEPARATOR CO. July 5, 1955 No. 19343/55. Class 117 A magnetic separator in the form of a pulley comprises a hub 8 of magnetic material on which are assembled a plurality of annular magnet units each consisting of eight radially disposed permanent magnets 11; pole pieces 12 and non-magnetic pole spacers 13 extend the length of the pulley. The corresponding magnets of each of the units are in alignment and are secured by bolts 15. clamping the non-magnetic spacers 13 to the hub 8 which has end rings 9 and is supported 'on inserts 10. The units, pole pieces and spacers are mounted between non-magnetic annular members 16 which slidably engage the inserts 10 and are clamped together by bolts 17. The pole pieces 13 are less than <SP>1</SP>/ 3 of the widths of the gaps between successive poles. In a modification, Fig. 3, magnets 21 having tapered outer ends engage non-magnetic spacing members 23 directly, bolts 25 clamping the members 23 to the hub 8.
