Abstract

770,230. Digging root-crops. MANSHOLT, D. R. Nov. 25, 1954 [Nov. 26, 1953], No. 34214/54. Class 6(3). A root-crop harvester comprises pairs of inclined rotary rods 5 having cranked ends 4 the rods being driven in opposite directions so as to prise the crop out of the ground. The rods are driven by gearing 12 from the power take-off of the towing tractor and are carried on a frame 6 supported on rear wheels 8 and front skids 9. The frame also carried a rotary spinner 19 which feeds the lifted crop to a slot-conveyer 20 and thence through a shoot 25 to an elevator 22 which delivers to a trailer coupled to the frame 6 at 23. A lever 10 adjusts the working height by raising and lowering the skid 9. The conveyer, spinner and elevator are driven through a transmission 13, 17, 18, 24 from the tractor.
