Abstract

741,140. Making plaster boards. BRITISH PLASTER BOARD (HOLDINGS), Ltd., [formerly BRITISH PLASTER BOARD, Ltd.]. Oct. 9, 1953 [Oct. 16, 1952], No. 26026/52. Class 87 (2). To facilitate the adhesion of webs of paper 1, 2 to the plaster slurry 6 forming the core of paperlined plaster board 8 they are first coated with a thin layer of neat gypsum plaster in water, e.g. 100 parts by weight of gypsum plaster to 70 parts of water, to form a layer seven-thousandths of an inch thick, and are then brought into contact with the plaster slurry 6. The plaster 17 for the thin layer is fed from hoppers 10, 11 on to webs 1, 2 where it is spread by rollers 19, 20 co-operating with tables 18. Hopper 3 feeds the core forming plaster slurry 6 on to the web 2 and rollers 7 form the sandwich board 8. Some or all of the spreading rollers may be shaped to assist spreading, e.g. as shown in Fig. 3.
