Abstract
722,772. Terrestrial globes. GASCO, P. Oct. 31, 1952, No. 27380/52. Class 146 (2). A translucent or transparent terrestrial globe for instructive purposes has a relatively thin wall with a cartographic design on the interior surface thereof. Preferably a source of light is provided within the globe. The globe may be formed of thermoplastic or thermosetting synthetic materials or of glass, and made in two hemispheres 1, 2 which are subsequently joined by glueing or welding, &c. The design may be printed on translucent or transparent paper, &c. and the latter cut, e.g. as at Fig. 3, and then applied to the interior surface of the globe, preferably in meridian form. The adhesive may also be applied to the rear of the design as a varnish &c. Alternatively, the design may be printed directly on to the internal surface of the globe, or applied photographically to the previously sensitized surface.
