Abstract
711,472. Road-vehicle bodies. SPARSHATT, G. W. Jan. 31, 1952 [Nov 17, 1950]. No. 28201/50. Class 108(1) Metal framework for a road vehicle, Fig. 1, comprises a substructure 1 having thrust members 5 carrying longitudinal tubular members 2 and transverse members 4 provided with capping members 6 to form a plane surface for the floor. To the ends 36 of the transverse members 4 are secured blocks 35, Fig. 4, which support pillars 27 each comprising a vertical tube 30 to which is secured capping members 31, 32 conforming to the contours of the, interior and exterior panels. The upper ends 37 of the pillars have spigot and socket connection with the blocks 14, Fig. 2. carried, by the transverse tubular members 11 which pass through top hat section members 12 stiffening the roof panel 13. The side edges 17 of the roof are bent to form a channel section which serves as the cant rail which is recessed at 21 to receive the pillars. The interior panels 39, Fig. 5, are secured at their lower ends to right angle coving panels 45, and have their upper edges bent over to form a: waist rail 41.
