Abstract

694,858. Tool-holders. BROWN, R. F. H. June 14, 1951 [March 14, 1950], No. 6305/50. Class 83 (iii). [Also in Group XXIII] A boring and facing tool of the type having a hollow frusto - conical cutter-body and an externally screw - threaded shank is characterized in that the small diameter end of the frusto-conical body is of approximately the same diameter as the shank. The leading face 4, Fig. 1, of the cutter is a spiral and is slightly inclined inwards and intersects a top-rake surface 5, lying along a plane containing the axis, to form the cutting edge. The cutter is screwed into a holder 10, Fig. 3, which is flared at one end to support the external form of the cutter. The holder has a hexagonal portion 13 for clamping on a machine.
