627,585. Melting furnaces. SCHLEHR, W. R. Sept. 20, 1946, No. 28261. [Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXIII and XXXV] An air lock for charging pellets of raw material into a crucible whose internal pressure is above atmospheric (see Group XXIII) comprises two discs 16, 17 intersecting the hopper mouth 25 and mounted, with their apertures 23, 22 displaced 180 degrees, on a common shaft 18 driven through worm gearing by a motor 26 energized when the level of molten material in the crucible drops below the required minimum (see Group XXXV).
