Abstract

535,921. Alloys; annealing. LANGLEY ALLOYS, Ltd., and EVANS. F. C. April 16, 1940. No. 6842. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] Copper alloys contain nickel or chromium, and silicon with or without magnesium, and, as a grain refining element cerium, or niobium, or both, with or without titanium. There may be 0.5-5 per cent. of nickel, 0.1-1.25 per cent. of silicon, and 0.05-0.5 per cent. of cerium or niobium. The alloys may be quenched from 700-900‹C., and aged for about 5 hours at 400- 600‹C. The heat-treatment may be preceded by working at above 800‹C.
