Abstract

496,359. Pneumatic tyres. FIRESTONE TYRE & RUBBER CO., Ltd. March 11, 1938, No. 7686. Convention date, March 12, 1937. [Class 144 (ii)] A self-sealing air-tube comprises a main chamber 13 and an outer compartment 14, a sponge-rubber or like puncture-closing layer 18 secured to the outer wall of the chamber 13 being normally spaced from the outer tube wall 17, as shown in Fig. 1. The chambers 13, 14 normally communicate through a vent 19 which is closed against the wall 17, by expansion of the main air-chamber, on deflation of the chamber 14 as shown in Fig. 2.
