Abstract

495,195. Lock-nuts. LORING, F. H., and MARSHALL, E. L. May 8, 1937, No. 13172. [Class 89 (i)] A lock-nut 1 is fitted with one or more transverse plugs 2, 4, 5 of fibre or like material which enter or cross the axial bore of the nut and present one or more ends 6 or side surfaces 3 to a bolt or other threaded member on which the nut is screwed. The plugs may be round in cross-section and they may be driven or screwed into plain or threaded holes drilled preferably at 90‹ to the flat faces of the nut. The plugs may be lightly threaded before engagement with the bolt, and the nut may be burred over slightly at the outer ends of the plugs.
