Abstract

493,485. Electroplating. LANGBEIN. PFANHAUSER - WERKE AKT. - GES. Dec. 30, 1937, No. 36060. Convention date, Jan. 13. [Class 41] An object with a nonconducting surface is coated with a very thin layer of metal such as silver or copper, e.g. by chemical reduction and is then coated with copper electrolytically in a copper sulphate solution of pH 3À4-1À8, e.g. a solution containing 40-100 gms. of copper sulphate and up to 2À5 gms. free sulphuric acid per litre. The copper deposit is then thickened in an ordinary acid copper bath, e.g. one containing 200-300 gms. of copper sulphate and 15-40 gms. free sulphuric acid per litre (pH 1À1-0À9) or in a cyanide bath.
