Abstract

439,101. Vehicle bogies. JONKHOFF, H. W., 4, Berger Ufer, D³sseldorf, Germany. Aug. 12, 1935, No. 22672. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1934. [Class 108 (ii)] In vehicle suspensions a double-axled bogie having four wheels comprises three independently pivoted arms carrying the wheels under the control of a single laminated spring which however may be a divided one. The bogie comprises a king pin 1 and bearings 2 and is provided with side portions 3 in which a cross pin 4 is mounted. The forwardly extending arm 5 and the rearwardly extending arms 6<a>, 6b are independently pivoted on the cross pin 4, while a divided spring 10 is connected to the rear of the arm 5 and to a carrier 14 arranged between and engaging extensions 12 of the rear arms 6b, 6<a>. As shown the extensions 12 are arranged with toothed segments engaging a toothed wheel 13 carried by the spring carrier 14 and so act as a balancing device for the rear wheels. Each rear wheel is driven independently by a motor through its axle 23. The front arm 5 is provided with a vertical bearing to receive an intermediary member 15 carrying horizontal pivots for double arms connected to the wheels. A steering socket 22 is pivoted to the member 15 in which socket a steering rod 20 is arranged to slide. Two bogies may be arranged transversely below a chassis.
