Abstract

396,977. Vehicle bodies. WEAKLEY, F. J., 161, Highfield Road, Saltley, Birming- ham. Nov. 19; 1932, No. 32731. [Class 108 (i).] Vehicle frame members are built up of two metal channels with an interposed web extending across the hollow box section so formed, the edges of the web being included between the externally extending flanges of the metal channels. The frame member comprises two channel members 1, 3 connected together by means of outwardly extending flanges 4 between which extends also a web 6 preferably corrugated as at 6a. A vehicle body built up of such members comprises pillars to which are secured floor members, waist rails, cant rails and roof sticks, and, as shown, the pillar may be made in two parts connected together at the upper floor level by angle brackets 17, 18, 22. If desired at such parts where strength is not of importance the channel member 3 may be omitted as shown at the foot of the pillar, Fig. 1. The floor members 11, 16 are shown secured to the pillar by brackets 7, 17 and angle members 9, 22, while the rails 15, 13 are secured by suitable brackets such as 14. The roof sticks 26 are attached to the pillars by brackets 24, 25. Fig. 3 shows the method of attaching window guides 30 by means of screws 31 and fibre blocks 32, a moulding 34 and panel 35 being also attached as shown.
