393,565. Electrolytic treatment of aluminium. VEREINIGTE ALUMINIUMWERKE AKT.-CTES., Lautawerk, Lausitz, Germany. Sept. 3, 1931, No. 24757. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1930. Void [Published under'Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 41.] Dense, thick oxide layers are produced on aluminium and its alloys by passage of a variable uni-directional current. The current may be produced by the use of a suitable generator, by rectification of an alternating current, by interruption of a direct current, or by superimposing a direct on an alternating current. Reference is made to a prior process using direct current with milk of lime as electrolyte.
