Abstract
366,771. Moulding dough &c. by extrusions. KREMMLING, A., Hamersleben, near Oschersleben, Germany. March 16, 1931, No. 8081. Convention date, Feb. 21. [Class 87 (ii).] Shaped pieces of pastry or confectionery are made by extruding the material through dies 2. 3 in which partitions 5 are provided to divide the material into streams which are then severed by a wire reciprocated across the face of the dies, the pressure of the wire causing the separate streams to re-unite. The face of the die is of convex form in order to maintain the cutting wire in close contact therewith, and when more than one die is provided, the die faces are aligned to enable a single cutter to be used, a bevelled surface being formed on each die to guide the cutter on to the dies. The partitions may extend to the face of the die and may then be serrated or may be set back therefrom, as at 5, Fig. 2. The extrusion die is made of thin brass, aluminium alloy, &c. and an annular flange 8 is provided around the extrusion orifice. The die may be fitted with a core. Thick partitions may be placed in the die apertures to produce rounded surfaces on the cut-off pieces.
