[Class 51 (i).] In apparatus for supplying a mixture of pulverized fuel and air or gas to boiler furnaces means are provided operated by hand or automatically from a pressure gauge, flow meter, thermostat or the like whereby a definitely proportioned mixture at all loads is delivered to, the burners without altering the volume of air or gas passing through the pulverizing plant and without precipitating the powdered coal carried in the circulating air or gas, the coal supplied to the burners being controlled at the feeder of the pulverizer and all the air or gas and coal dust being passed through the fan or other device which circulates the air or gas. As shown, coal is fed from a hopper E under the control of a feed device E<1> to a conduit A communicating through the separator a with the pulverizer C from which the powdered fuel passes at c into a conduit A in communication with a source of air or flue gas supply and is drawn through the separator by a fan a<1> and delivered through the conduit B to the burner b. A return conduit D connects the conduit B with the conduit A so that excess fuel and air under the control of a valve K may be returned to the circulating fan a<1>. The feeder E<1> and valve K are. interconnected by gearing and shafts H and actuated by a hand-wheel J or automatically. Separate controls may be provided for the air and fuel.
