Abstract
338,222. Adams, A. J. Ang. 20, 1929. Spring and weight power-storing mechanism.- Power from a wave motor or other prime mover is transmitted through several spiral springs 19 to a revoluble casing which is attached to friction bands 28 by a bolt 17 and drives a sprocket wheel 26 which is loosely mounted on a shaft 5. The friction bands may be adjusted on their drums 27 by tension bolts 30. To prevent overwinding of the springs a trip finger 37 passes through a slot 38 in the casing and is gripped between the outer two spring convolutions. Inward movement of these convolutions moves a pivoted lever 35 and releases the friction belt from its drum. Retrograde movement of the shaft 5 is prevented by a ratchet wheel 41 and a pawl 42.
