Abstract

277,368. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Siemens-Schuckertwerke Ges.). Sept. 11, 1926, [Convention date]. Fluid relays. - A valve regulating device for steam turbines in which the movements of a main valve are controlled by an auxiliary valve is provided with a balancing device whereby the chambers under different pressures above and below the valve can be put into communication with one another. The Figure shows the application of the invention to a governor transmitting gear. The main valve 2 closes in the direction of flow and is formed integrally with a leaky piston 6 coupred to a main actuating piston 12. The movements of the piston 12 are controlled by a piston valve 9 actuated by a speed governor 10 and working in a ported sleeve 11 coupled to the main spindle. The balancing valve 7 controls the pipes 21, 23 connecting the space 5 above the piston 6 with the outlet 4 and is actuated by a piston 17 controlled by a piston valve 15 working in a ported sleeve 16 and actuated by a piston 14 subject to the pressures existing above and below the piston 12. The valve 7 may be actuated by hand.
