Abstract

249,386. Excelsior Motor Co., Ltd., and Hemphill, C. B. July 18,1925. Vacuum tubes. - The contacts of a thermionic valve-holder consist of inverted U.shaped springs 7, each having a shank portion 9 which is forced into an opening in the wall of an insulating ring 2 so that the end extends beyond the wall and serves for connecting a lead; the ends 6 of the contacts are curved to fit around the valve pins 12. The inner ends of the U-shaped bends are inclined so that they are forced apart slightly when the valve is inserted. The shanks are tapered and their ends may be tinned for making soldered joints. The sockets are made deep enough to prevent the metal base 10 of the valve from engaging with the contacts. The holder may be adapted to receive four or five electrode valves. In a modification the holder is mounted on the underside of a panel and a template is mounted above the panel to guide the valve pins.
