Abstract

The device is designed to remove mascara from the eye lashes by means of foam or similar covered crescent shaped bars C which squeeze onto the eye lashes by means of pincer or tweezer action after being dipped in solvent. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Tweezer like eyelash cleanser The invention is tweezer like and is so shaped as to faciliate the removal of mascara or similar substances from the eyelashes.
It is a general practice to remove mascara with cotton wool or a tissue moistened with a suitable liquid or cream remover, the cotton wool being held between the fingers and wiped over the eyelashes usualy in downward strokes which results in a proportion of the mascara being left on the skin immediately under the eye, this then has to be removed separately. The skin under the eye is very delicate and stretches easily, the above method is messy and prolonged use can result in premature wrinking of the skin around the eye.
The device basicaly consists of the spring crescent shaped arms of a pair of tweezers as shown in .A.
Figure 1 and 2 but with the addition of a drop arm or shaft which protrudes downwardly from the open end of each arm of the spring portion .A. of the tweezers, the said parts being marked .8. in Figure 1 and .2.
Connected to drop arms or shafts .B. are the slightly arched arms .C., the arms .C. run approximately parallel to the spring arms .A. but at a lower level, the difference being determined by the length of drop arms or shafts .B.
Pushed over the slightly arched arms .C. is foam or similar absorbent tubing .D. Figure .3., the tubing may be an interference fit or may be held on the arched arms .C. by small barbs or clips which would be placed on the upper part of arm .C. away from the eye, the barbs or clips would in any case be covered by the foam, the absorbent tubing .D. shall cover the arms .C. completely.
To use the device the attached cleaning sponges .D. are dipped in any suitable cleaning solvent, then the sponges are placed either side of the eyelashes then the crescent shaped arms .A. are squeezed together which inturn squeezes together the arched arms .C. and their sponges .D. over the eyelashes, it is then a simple matter to draw the device away from the eye andin so doing remove the mascara.
It may now be realized that arm .C. is slightly arched to follow the contour of the eyelid and that drop arm .B. is necessary to keep the spring portion and consequently the fingers operating them clear of the face.
The sponges .D. are meant to be removed and discarded after each cleansing operation, or if expedient be washed and reused.
The arm .C. may be made as a part of spongeD.
the whole unit clipping or slotting into drop arm .B.
The sponge or felt .D. may be rectangular in shape which would fit into a similar shaped slot in arm .C.
The device may be as shown in Figure 4. the difference being that drop arms or shafts .8. are omited, arched arms .C. being connected directly to spring arms A.
The device may be as shown or described or any combination of the embodiments shown or de scribed.
CLAIMS (Filed on 13 April, 83) 1. Atweezer like device designed to remove mascara from the eyelashes by squeezing foam covered arched arms over the eyelashes. The said foam being held in place by clips or barbs, the foam or similar substance being cleanable if necessary.
2. As in .1. but with the tweezer part of the device disposed at an angle on the arched arms, or connected at any position on the said arms. The tweezer portion may be dipsosed at right angles to the arched arms but held away from the face by extending rods.
