Abstract

2176. Lord, A. J. Jan. 28. Rectilinear-motion bearings. - Relates to the roller fittings at the top and bottom of swivelling-sliding partitions. The grooved bottom rollers 2, running on a floor rail 7 are mounted in brackets 9 having vertical spindles 10 passing through guide-blocks 11, which can either slide freely between the outside plates 3, or be adjustably secured by screws 17 engaging slots 18 in the plates. Springs 14 tend to keep the rollers in contact with the floor, and, when the blocks 11 are free to slide, allow the rollers to adjust themselves to uneven floors. The top rollers 21, of spherical or other suitable form, are loosely mounted on pins 19 on the partition leaves, and run on a track 22 formed in the guide beam.
