Abstract

20,792. Smythe, R. G. C. Sept. 11. Golf clubs.-Relates to the attachment of the shaft to a wooden, cane, or metal golf-club head, and consists in boring the body of the head longitudinally and the neck portion in an inclined direction, and bending the end of the shaft so as to fit into the hole thus formed. The back of the neck portion is removed, as shown in Fig. 1, and a wedge C is inserted. In a modification, Fig. 10, lead weighting H is placed round the shaft; and in a furthur modification, Fig. 16, the bent end of the shaft is replaced by metal tubing T, filled with lead H.
