Abstract

1503990 Measuring road surface unevenness PACIFIC KOGYO KK 8 May 1975 19512/75 Headings G1F and G1M A travelling motor vehicle measures road roughness by means of a camera 2, Figs. 5 and 1 which records the shape b of a plane light/dark interface 19 projected on to the road by a light projector 1 and enables rut depths to be calculated from a photograph of the curved line using given equations and the measurements of Fig. 2. In the equations h is the photographing distance, F is the focal length, l 1 is the rut depth, 12 is the projected rut depth by the light, 13 is the camera width of l 2 , α equals the angle of the central light beam with the longitudinal axis of the road, and # is the camera angle. Every time the vehicle travels a predetermined distance the projector and camera are synchronously operated to effect a recording.
