Abstract

1488793 Vehicle roofs P A BROOKES T F BROOKES and T P ADDIS 6 Dec 1974 [11 Sept 1973] 42749/73 Heading B7B A vehicle roof has a cant rail comprising lengths of plastics rails 1 connected at their corners by corner pieces 5, a pair of opposite sides of the rail being bridged by aluminium or aluminium alloy U-section members 7 having flanges 8 for supporting polythene or G.R.P. roofing material. The flanges 8 are encased in a P.V.C. sleeve 10 to the upper surface of which the roofing material is bonded. The marginal parts 9a of the roofing material are secured to horizontal flanges 4 of the cant rails by means of rivets 12 which also secure a P.V.C. capping 11 over the roofing material 9. The U-section members 7 are secured at their ends to the cant rails by bolts 7b.
