Abstract

1474620 Moulding closures on to tubes BLENDAX-WERKE R SCHNEIDER GmbH & CO 18 Sept 1974 40738/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] A tube 1 is provided with a tube closure 6 of elastomeric material having a Shore-A-hardness within the range 40-60 (see Division B8) by mounting a tube body provided with an annular groove 14 on a mandrel and then injection moulding the closure of elastomeric material using a moulding tool which has a cavity corresponding to the external shape of the closure. The front end of the mandrel which forms the inner cavity of the closure, is formed so that the inner contour of the closure is shaped correspondingly. Subsequently the incisions forming the sealing lip 7 are formed by punching. Examples of elastomers are silicone rubber, nitrile rubber, fluororubber, natural rubber, polyesters and ethylene/propylene copolymers.
