Abstract
1453078 Temperature compensating transducer circuits BELL & HOWELL CO 24 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972 (2)] 49479/73 Heading G1N A transducer device comprises a transducer 10, e.g. a four element semi-conductor strain gauge bridge, having input terminals 11, 12 and an overall negative temperature coefficient of voltage that causes an error in the output voltage at temperatures other than that at which the transducer is calibrated, and a compensation circuit 13 of one or more temperature responsive diodes connected in series with the input terminals of the transducer to compensate for said error. In a preferred embodiment Fig. 1, of which the block diagram of an equivalent circuit is in Fig. 3 (not shown) the source voltage and the number of diodes are chosen so that the percentage change in output voltage caused by the diodes is the same as the percentage change in output voltage due to the change in sensitivity of the transducer with a change in temperature. Alternatively Fig. 4 (not shown) a sufficient number of diodes (40) is employed to provide an overall positive temperature coefficient for the combination of the diodes and transducer and a positive temperature coefficient resistor (46) is connected in series between the transducer (41) and voltage source (42).
