Abstract

1451416 Sealing cable joints DRAKA KABEL BV 5 Feb 1974 [16 Feb 1973] 05351/74 Heading H2E A cable joint is sealed in a casting box comprising a base member having open U-shaped ends and two end-sealing members 5 engaging the ends to define apertures for receiving and sealing around the cable joint, complementary teeth 7, 4 being on the open ends and sealing members for effecting the engagement. Each end of the base member has a guide 3 with teeth 4 in which an end plate 5 engages, circular portions 9, 10 forming an aperture which, with rubber &c. packing, fits around the cable(s) to form a sealed mould into which casting resin is poured. A cover (not shown) is fitted to the open top of the mould. In a variation ; the teeth face inwardly of the base member and outwardly of the end plates (Figs. 6 and 7).
