Abstract
1447901 Endoscope AMERICAN OPTICAL CORP 22 Jan 1974 [22 Jan 1973] 02896/74 Heading G2J [Also in Division A5] An endoscope includes a probe portion 14 which is flexible at its object end where it comprises a series of articulated annuli 58, control means being provided at the viewing end of the endoscope to articulate the annuli and flex the object end. The annuli are threaded on wires 56 secured to a pulley (84) operated by a wheel (86) on the probe, see Figs. 1, 3 (not shown), and each annulus has a pair of lugs 62 pivoted in sockets in an adjacent annulus. Optic fibre bundles 28, 32 separated by coaxial sleeves transmit light respectively from a lamp (24) to the object and from the object to eye-piece lenses (38) at the viewing end. Three lenses (42) at the object end, Fig. 2 (not shown), form an objective for the bundle 32.
