Abstract

1350050 Torque release adapter X-4 CORP 31 Jan 1972 4393/72 Heading B3N A torque release adapter comprises a receptacle 10 in which a shaft having a head portion 32 is retained by a nut 14. The shaft is spring biased downwardly by spring washers 48, 50. Opposing surfaces 34, 16a have recesses 36, 30 respectively. Preferably the recesses 30 are deeper than recesses 36 so that balls b that fit therein remain in recesses 30 when slip occurs between head 32 and the receptacle. Instead of balls needle roller bearings may be utilized. The nut may be locked in a given position by way of the arrangements shown in Figs. 6, 6a and 9.
