Abstract
1348478 Aerials EMI Ltd 10 June 1971 [20 June 1970] 30024/70 Heading H4A In an aerial arrangement a slot transmission line is formed by two conductive areas 5 on a ceramic or other insulating substrate 1 with a gap 4 between them. Near one end of the gap the two areas are tapered down to form strips 7, 8, and these are terminated in dipole arms 2, 3. At the other end of the gap the two conductive areas are merged. They may be of gold film, and be shaped by a printed circuit technique. Power is fed into the aerial by means of a conductive strip which is disposed on the underface of the substrate, at right-angles to the gap (Fig. 2, not shown). In other embodiments the end parts of the conductive areas are abruptly stepped down, instead of being tapered, and in one the slot is wider inside the unstepped part of the areas than in the part which is stepped down (Figs. 3, 4, not shown).
