Abstract

1336373 Antacid compositions WILLIAM H RORER INC 27 April 1971 [28 April 1970] 11705/71 Heading A5B Pharmaceutical compositions comprising particles of an antacid material (A) coated with a non-toxic and water-insoluble oil (B) which is inert to the material (A) and improves the palatability and taste characteristics of the composition, the ratio of oil (B) to material (A) being within a range of 1:5 to 1:1000 by weight, may be prepared 'by coating particles of (A) with (B). The antacid material may be aluminium hydroxide, aluminium hydroxycarbonate, aluminium magnesium glycinate, aluminium oxycarbonate, aluminium phosphate, bismuth subcarbonate, bismuth subnitrate, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, dihydroxyaluminium aminoacetate, glycine, magnesium aluminate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide, magnesium trisilicate, sodium bicarbonate and/or sodium carbonate; and the oil may be almond, coconut, corn, cottonseed, linseed, hydrogenated castor, olive, palm, peanut, persic, sesame or soybean oil, liquid petrolatum and/or olein. The compositions may be in the form of powders, granules, tablets, chewable tablets or suspensions.
