Abstract

1,248,395. Making hose end fitting inserts. HYDRAULIC SUPPLY SERVICES Ltd. 28 Nov., 1968 [5 Dec., 1967], No. 55305/67. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F2] A method of making a hose end fitting insert includes spinning or rolling down a tube to produce a smaller diameter part 1, which is intended to enter the bore of a hose 2, and a larger diameter part 3, which is intended to carry coupling means. A ferrule 6 is formed from flat sheet or tube and a collar 7 is crimped thereto. The collar is then slipped over the part 1 and crimped to it, so that the ferrule extends coaxially to the insert. The free end of the part 3 is provided with a coupling nut 8 prior to placing the ferrule on the insert. The insert may be made straight or bent, as shown.
