Abstract

1,222,744. Coating webs. J. SCHAETTI[trading as SCHAETTI & CO.] 1 May, 1969 [24 Sept., 1968], No. 22208/69. Heading D1L. A pattern of thermoplastic or thermosetting resin P in powder form is deposited through perforations L in the wall of a hollow rotating drum 2 onto a web of fabric S carried along a conveyor belt 1 moving in slip free contact with the underside of the drum. The drum rotates freely between two support rolls 5 and 6 placed beneath the conveyor belt and an upper roll 7 adjustable in pressure contact with the drum 2. The level of powder P, supplied from a feed device N, is maintained below the point E at which the web 1st comes into contact with the drum and is prevented from being carried past the region at which the web leaves contact with the drum by a scraping device A. The web is then heated by radiator W to sinter the resin and may be pressed between rolls 16. A top cloth (Z, Fig. 5) may be pressed onto the sintered resin.
