Abstract

1,184,658. Valves. SPERRYN & CO. Ltd. 24 Sept., 1968 [3 Oct., 1967], No. 44865/67. Heading F2V. A closure member for a valve comprises a substantially rigid member 14 having an annular groove or recess 25 into which a sheath 26 of flexible or resilient material can be deformed on engagement with the valve seat. The sheath is of fluorinated elastomer or nitrile rubber and has a bead 27 in fluid-tight engagement with an annular recess 28, the lower end of the sheath being clamped under a washer 31. The stem of the closure may be connected to a pair of spring-loaded pressure-responsive diaphragms 16, 19 in a gas governor, the space between the diaphragms communicating with the valve outlet. A narrow slit 33 admits gas at inlet pressure to the space 25.
