Abstract

1,173,898. Fasteners. HI-SHEAR CORP. 19 Dec., 1966, No. 56694/66. Heading F2H. Fastener comprising a headed pin 10 and a headed sleeve 25 whose internal diameter corresponds to the diameter of a reduced diameter portion 18 of the pin's shank, and whose external diameter corresponds in diameter to the portion 11 of the shank, the sleeve having a length corresponding to that of the shank portion 18 and a grooved end 15, a face 19 for abutting a shoulder 27 on the shank, and an outwardly tapered face 35 against which a tubular collar 40 can be pressed and thence deflected against a tapered shoulder 16 defining one side of a groove 17, to prevent separation of the pin and sleeve. The pin can be hollow. The collar may be made of Monel metal (Registered Trade Mark), and the pin and sleeve may be made of stainless steel.
