Abstract

1,170,701. Incinerators. WASTE COMBUSTION CORP. 19 Jan., 1968 [31 Jan., 1967], No. 3086/68. Headings F4B and F4W. A refractory lined incinerator 10, comprising a main combustion chamber C, has a vertical gas exhaust passageway 30 at its top end which is connected to an offset exhaust stack 60 by an inclined refractory lined conduit 40. An oil or gas pressure burner 62 fires into the lower end of conduit 40 to form a secondary combustion chamber for consuming smoke and noxious products. Secondary combustion air is delivered to a manifold chamber 50 defined within the conduit 40 by an apertured stainless steel wall 48, through a duct 66 which leads from a plenum chamber 68 containing a blower 70. From plenum box 68, air is also supplied to pressure burner 62 through duct 80, and to a similar main pressure burner 90 through duct 92. Slide valves regulate the air flows through the ducts. Air under pressure from plenum box 68 is also supplied through duct 100, manifold 104 and air holes 108 into main combustion chamber C below the downwardly directed flame from burner 90. Air manifold 104 is defined by an annular plate 110 welded within the bottom end of incinerator casing 12 before a castable material to form refractory lining 16 is applied. Removable pegs (P, Fig. 5, not shown) define the air holes 108, during the formation of the lining 16 which is retained in position by angle plates 120. A charging door 34 and ash removal door 20 are also provided.
