Abstract

116,114. Justice, P. M., (Spray Engineering Co.). April 19, 1917. Powder-blowers.-In an air brush, a film of coating or other material is', conducted by capillarity into position across an opening between two surfaces occupying a face-to-face relation and almost in contact, and is there maintained by capillary action for discharge by subjection to the impact of a fluid directed through the opening and at right-angles to the film. The apparatus comprises two adjustable hemispherical members 31. 36 having small central openings, the space between them being fed with paint &c. by the passage 41. The opening in the inner member 31 is controlled by a needle valve 14 and is supplied with air through the passages 22, 13. The casing is of the pistol grip form and is provided with valves 17, 27, for the air and liquid respectively, actuated from the trigger 2<11> by means of a cam 22 bearing against the stems' 20, 29. The apparatus is stated to be applicable for spraying powders.
